Profiel Groningen Seaports

Havens

Projecten:

Extension Beatrixhaven

Beatrixhaven
The Beatrixhaven is extended by 500 metres including turning area. Next to that Groningen Seaports constructs about 700 metres new heavy quay, of which the western quay wall of appproximately 220 metres will have a maximum capacity (uniformly distributed load) of 30 ton/m2. Jacking of vessels will be permitted directly adjacent to the quay wall. A major investment from about € 25 million and very important to meet the requirements for an offshore wind facility. Building activities are planned to be finished in 2015. In the near future many offshore wind projects are planned in the North Sea within nautical range of the Eemshaven.

Google

Google will invest 600 million Euro to build a data-center in Eemshaven. Groningen Seaport has sold 50 hectare ground to Google. The main reason of this choice is because the most important internet exchange point in Europe is located in Eemshaven, eleven of the fifteen internet cables that connects Europe and the United States meet here from the sea on the land. Google plans to start use this data-center in 2016.

Heliport Eemshaven

In recent years Eemshaven has become the backdrop to large-scale activities concerning the assembly and shipping of wind turbines. During the next few years there are dozens of wind park initiatives planned for the North Sea as well. Eemshaven could also play a key role in maintaining and repairing these planned wind turbines. Therefore it is also necessary to have a starting and landing site for helicopters close to the Eemshaven. This ‘heliport’ will be developed. All procedures needed are under development and it is expected that the heliport Eemshaven will be operational in 2016.

Gemini Windpark

The Gemini offshore wind farm is one of the largest wind parks in the world. It is built in the Dutch part of the North Sea, 85 miles above the coast of Groningen. The production capacity of Gemini is 600MW and will supply more than 785,000 households with renewable electricity. The wind farm will reduce CO2 emissions by 1.25 million tons. This provides an important contribution to the realization of an independent power supply and to the Netherlands and Europe’s sustainability goals.

Deepening fairway Eemshaven-North Sea

To make the port more available for large ships, the State Ministry of Water Resources wants to improve the waterway with a depth to 14 meters. At the same time, there is a traffic guidance system to coordinate the shipping, the Vessel Traffic Management system (VTM).

Railway Roodeschool-Eemshaven

The province of Groningen wants to train from Groningen to Roodeschool in the future, which will pass the Eemshaven a few times a day. There will come a new train station in the Eemshaven. This new train station will connect to the ferry to Borkum. To realize all this connection the existing track must be renewed to double tracks.

Eneco Windpark Delfzijl North

Windpark DelfzijlThere are 19 wind turbines with 3,3 MW capacity will be built in Wind farm Delfzijl North, which is able to supply the green power to 55.000 households from the spring 2015.

Biobased Energy

The program-line Bio Based Energy is focused on the development and application of innovative technologies for bio-energy resources, such as: green gas, bio-methanol, bio-coal, etc. Hereby men can make use of local biomass, such as: organic waste or residual products in the agro-industry. It is also a connection made to use of biomass and bioenergy resource, for example, the chemistry. This offers a promising perspective for industry with high-quality knowledge with value added products, such as: plastics, paint or cosmetics.

Brainwierde Weiwerd

Brainwierde Weiwerd is developed exclusively for knowledge-intensive activity with a direct link to the surrounding (chemical) industry in Delfzijl. The redesignation of Weiwerd is a unique project in Netherlands. The Green character of the wierde and surrounding industries in Delfzijl provides a unique location!

N33 road

The present road, nation road N33, will be doubled between Assen city and Zuidbroek.

Pipe zone Eemsdelta

Pipe-Zone Eemsdelta can supply the place for the different pipes systems, which quickly and securely transport the liquids and gases between the Eemshaven and Oosterhorn industrial estate in Delfzijl.
