Two and a half months ahead of schedule, Veja Mate has reached the halfway installation milestone with 34 of the total 67 wind turbines now installed.
As of 27 March, 30 of the 34 installed wind turbines are fully commissioned and producing power.
The installation began in January. Two installation vessels have been tasked with installing the 67 Siemens SWT-6.0-154 wind turbines at the 402MW wind farm: Seajacks Scylla and Fred Olsen Windcarrier’s Bold Tern.
Seajacks Scylla had already worked on the project, installing 67 monopiles at the site located some 95km north west of the island of Borkum in the German exclusive economic zone (EEZ). Seajacks Zaratan installed all of the transition pieces at the site.
Veja Mate is a EUR 1.9 billion offshore wind project owned by the Highland Group Holdings Ltd, Siemens Financial Services, and CI II managed by Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners.
The wind farm is expected to be fully operational by the end of this year.
